Fracture

This was an exciting new adventure for me!  I recently requested a super advanced readers copy of "Fracture" by Megan Miranda and found out I would get it!  I had about a month to read it and fill out a survey.  The paper attached to it said that it would grip me from the first page and I didn't believe them...oh how wrong I was!  This book truly did grip me from the first page.  The way the characters are written is incredible!  I really enjoyed this book and I'm sorry to inform you that this book does not come out until 2012.  So hold on tight, and add this to the books you want to read!  And don't worry, we will definitely have a copy of this book at the library as soon as it comes out!  Check out the synopsis and reviews below.

"Delaney Maxwell survives a fall into a Maine lake, and subsequent brain injury, only to discover she now has a strange and frightening affinity with the dying.

When Delaney is pulled from the icy waters of Falcon Lake by her best friend, Decker, she is blue and her heart isn’t beating – everyone knows she’s dead. And yet.... Six days later, she awakens from her coma, healthy enough to look at scans of her own damaged brain. Is she a miracle, a freak of nature – or something much more frightening" -goodreads

"In the dim light of the darkroom, I'm alone, but not for long.

As white turns to gray, Kate is with me.

The background of the dance studio blurred, so the focus is all on her

legs extended in a perfect soaring split.

The straight line to my squiggle,

my forever-best friend.

Sixteen-year-old Liz Grayson is photogirl—sharp, focused and ready to take the world by storm with her camera. But Liz's entire life is called into question when her brother is accused of a crime—and the accuser is Liz's own best friend. As the aftershocks from that accusation rip through Liz's world, everything she thought she knew about photography, family, friendship and herself, shifts out of focus. And for the first time in her life, Liz finds herself unable to trust her own point of view. Told in stunning, searingly raw free verse, Exposed is Kimberly Marcus's gut-wrenching, riveting debut and will appeal to fans of Ellen Hopkins, Laurie Halse Anderson and Virginia Euwer Wolff." -goodreads

One Night

I think I'm starting to enjoy these Novels in Verse.  They are short, to the point and take about an hour to read!  I really liked this one and look forward to talking about it at book club in a couple weeks (Wed April 27th, 4-5:30pm)!  Here is the synopsis and reviews!

REVIEWS

"Gabe is the best looking guy in school. That's why his friends send him to get girls to their party. Helen is not much to look at; that's why her friends want her to come along. But Helen gets under Gabe's skin in a way no other girl has.

It was one night. One night with lasting consequences. Now Helen has to decide if she wants to keep the baby and if she should tell Gabe, who hasn't spoken to her since their one night together.

Filled with love, fear, and the tough choices born of casual acts, One Night is a passionate and compellingly readable novel about teen life, the hardships of parenthood and the joy and forgiveness between family and friends." -goodreads

Go Graphic! Teens – April 2011

Hey Teens! Ms. Laura and Miss Ashley went to C2E2 to check out all the cool new comics coming out! While we were there, Miss Ashley picked up a copy of “Very Near Mint Vol. 1” by Justin Peterson. Looking for something to fill the void of Scott Pilgrim? Then pick this up! (You’ll also like it if you’re a fan of regular comics!). It’s so good we have two copies!

Very Near Mint Vol.1 by Justin Peterson Synopsis:

Colin Turner and Sam Jones own a pretty awesome comic book shop, the Splash Page. Business is great, they have a brand new employee, Nate, and Colin's ex-girlfriend Mackenzie is back.

Everything seems like it's fantastic...

That is, until this week's new comics don't show up. Then things get really complicated and everything starts to fall apart and other important stuff also happens, but we don't want to spoil it for you.

That's what the internet is for.

After School Charisma Vol. 1 Synopsis:

St. Kleio Academy is a very exclusive school: all of the students are clones of famous historical figures such as Beethoven, Queen Elizabeth I, Napoleon, Mozart, and Freud. All of them, that is, except for Shiro Kamiya. As Shiro struggles to adapt to this unusual campus, St. Kleio's first graduate, the clone of John F. Kennedy, is killed. Are the clones doomed to repeat the fate of their genetic progenitors, or can they create their own destinies? And how does a normal boy like Shiro fit in?
