Hetalia Crazy by special guest blogger Ms. Ashley!

Graphic Novels: We’re a bit Hetalia Crazy!

The Richton Park Library has gone a little Hetalia crazy! If you’ve never heard of Hetalia before, let me clue you in. What if all the countries were actually people? Russia, America, China, Japan… All very cute chibis! Then, take history and these personified countries and you get Hetalia! In Hetalia: Axis Powers, you explore WWI through the personified chibis of Japan, Germany, and France. The Allied Powers also make cameos in this fun series. It’s the best blend of humor, history, and comics! This is the perfect Summer Manga Read and Anime Watch as our Summer Reading Club theme is “You Are Here!” and different places around the world. So, how can you get in on this great read? Well, you can either check out the books (YA/GN/HET VOL.1 & YA/GN/HET VOL.2) or you can watch the Anime (YA/DVD/GN/HETALIA)

Synopsis:

During World War I, gruff Germany finds Italy hiding in a wooden box of tomatoes. Germany takes Italy as prisoner, but instead of war-like interrogation, Italy becomes more of the nuisance and unwanted guest. World War I quickly comes to an end, but World War II is right on its heels! This time, Italy tries his best to become friends with Germany. They soon befriend Japan, and the three of them form the Axis Powers. Meanwhile, America, who loves heroism and hamburgers, tries to form a treaty, as Great Britain reminisces about when America was his loving child.

Worried that you won’t have time to watch an entire season (or two) of Anime? Don’t worry! Each episode of this delightful Anime is only 5 minutes long! You can watch the entire season in 3 hours!! Of course, after those 3 hours, you’ll probably have the Opening and Ending Credits stuck in your head. But it’s a small price to pay for all the laughs you’ll get!
